Lyptus®:
The future of premium hardwood

Developed through a partnership between Weyerhaeuser and Aracruz Produitos De Madeira, S.A., Lyptus® is a new hardwood species available in a full spectrum of industrial wood products, including lumber, plywood, veneer, back and flitch veneer, edge banding and solid and engineered flooring. Lyptus® is a 100 percent renewable hardwood for industrial manufactures as well as architects and builders who are looking for a dependable source of high-quality, sustainable hardwood lumber.

Lyptus® is a premium-grade lumber ideally suited for flooring, cabinets, architectural millwork, residential and commercial furniture, and indoor paneling. Lyptus® is cherry in color and has the fine grain of genuine mahogany. Its superior quality, remarkable beauty and dependable supply make Lyptus® an ideal hardwood for diverse high-end applications. This new premium hardwood is also winning accolades from manufacturers who prefer to use an ecologically responsible, decorative hardwood that comes from a lasting, sustainable and renewable resource.

This new specie of high-quality hardwood lumber has never before been available in commercial volumes. Lyptus® is the result of carefully selected natural hybrids, world-class technology and well-planned, sustainable forest plantations. These important factors ensure that Lyptus® has a rich color, enduring strength and continued availability for its various end-use applications.

Lyptus® is grown on plantations of a Eucalyptus hybrid, interspersed with natural forests to protect and enhance native ecosystems. Lyptus® is germinated in plantation nurseries from mother trees that are chosen for the desirable characteristics of sustained yield. The growth values of this new hardwood lumber allow it to produce 30 times the volume of wood per acre compared to other southern Brazilian forests. Lyptus® is harvested in approximately 15 years. Consumers can be confident that selecting products manufactured with Lyptus® are made with wood that is grown in well managed forests that are maintained in an environmentally responsible manner.

Industrial tests carried out in Europe and the United States have proven that Lyptus® can be processed with the same tools and finishing as other hardwoods normally used in the production of furniture and floorings. More information about Lyptus® can be found at: www.weyerhaeuser.com/lyptus.
