Maxime Labossière
Guidé par un désir constant de consolider ses relations avec sa clientèle et ainsi devenir une référence en matière de service, la direction de Perfecta Plywood Itée est très heureuse d'annoncer la nomination de monsieur Maxime Labossière, au poste de représentant des ventes pour le Québec, la région d'Ottawa et les Provinces de l'Atlantique.

Représentant à l'interne chez Perfecta depuis janvier 2001, Maxime possède les connaissances essentielles liées à notre secteur d'activités. Il lui sera donc facile de se démarquer et ce, dès son entrée en poste. Maxime verra, entre autres, à fournir auprès de nos clientèles de ces régions, une prestation de service de haute qualité en plus d'y assurer le développement continu des affaires de la société. Sandy McKellar appointed WMC Director of Communications.
The Wood Manufacturing Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy McKellar as its new Director of Communications. Sandy joins WMC after serving as Coordinator of Promotions & Public Relations for the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. "With the recruitment of students into the post-secondary wood products processing and related courses being so important to the council and the sector, WMC is pleased to add Sandy's unique experience to our staff and she will play an integral role in the development and implementation of our national recruitment initiative, which we will undertake in partnership with the colleges and universities" said Richard Lipman, President, Wood Manufacturing Council. "Her knowledge of the industry and of recruitment issues will be very beneficial to the sector and her contributions will benefit all the post-secondary institutions that offer these courses".

After graduating from the Faculty of Forestry in 1995, McKellar joined the same faculty as Coordinator of Student Services. In 1997, she was asked to create and then hold the position of Coordinator of Student & Public Relations in concert with the introduction of the new industry-driven degree program in Wood Products Processing. More recently, she also doubled as the Cooperative Education Coordinator for the same program for one year. In August of 2002 Sandy was promoted to faculty wide promotion of undergraduate programs.

In her most recent role, Sandy was responsible for promoting a positive forest industry message to the public and recruiting new students to the Faculty of Forestry. Sandy spoke to over 5000 students annually, giving presentations about the BC and Canadian forest industry. She also taught in the UBC Wood Products Processing program, was involved in student advising, was the liaison with education, industry and government for the program, and played a public relations role for the Faculty of Forestry. Sandy is the current Chair of the Forest Resource Educators' Network of BC, and is a Board Member of the Festival of Forestry, Evans Lake Forestry Camp and the Canadian Women in Timber. She is also currently serving as the Promotion and Communications sub-committee chair for FORESTED WEST - The 2004 Western Canada Forest Education Conference, and as Media and Promotions sub-committee chair for the Association of BC Professional Foresters 56th AGM Host Committee.

Covolam
Alain Picard
La société Covolam a récemment connue de nombreux changements. La mise en disponibilité de nouveaux produits ainsi que le développement continu de ses marchés ont obligé la haute direction à apprécier certains éléments reliés à ses structures corporatives et organisationnelles. Eu égard à ces changements, M. Charles Corriveau, Président de Covolam, est heureux d’annoncer la nomination de M. Alain Picard au poste de Directeur des ventes et du marketing et cela pour
l’ensemble des territoires de ventes de la société. Notons qu’en plus de posséder une excellente expérience professionnelle et de nombreuses connaissances liées à notre industrie, Alain détient une maîtrise en sciences (M.Sc.) délivrée par l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il a en effet complété un programme d’étude de deuxième cycle avec une spécialité en recherche appliquée au marketing.

The Covolam Company has recently gone through many changes. Rénald Comeau
Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer la nomination de monsieur Rénald Comeau au poste de gérant du Centre d'excellence en bois ouvré du Canada atlantique, CCNB campus de Campbellton.

Monsieur Comeau a gradué du programme Technologie en génie mécanique du CCNB campus Bathurst en 1982. Il a une vaste expérience dans l'entreprise privée comme gestionnaire dans le secteur de la menuiserie architecturale, fabrication d'ameublement commercial et d'armoires de cuisine. Son expérience et ses connaissances seront certes un atout au développement et à la progression du CEBO.

Monsieur Comeau est entré en fonction le 20 octobre dernier.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rénald Comeau to the position of Manager of Atlantic Canada's Woodworking Centre of Excellence, NBCC Campellton Campus.

Mr. Comeau graduated from NBCC, Bathurst Campus in 1982 where he received his diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology. His experience in the private sector, whether it be in the field of architectural millwork or manufacturing of commercial casework and kitchen cabinets will be a great asset in the continuing development and progression of the WCE.

Mr. Comeau started employment on Monday October 20, 2003.

Grass America Inc.
David Culp
I am very pleased to announce that David Culp has been named General Manager and CEO of Grass America Inc.

Mr. Culp joins Grass America after 26 years with Knoll, Inc., the fourth largest manufacturer of contract office furniture worldwide. He has held a variety of positions during his tenure at Knoll, most recently serving as vice president of operations. In this position, David worked to reduce cost, resulting in a substantial increase in gross profits over three years. He also successfully managed the development of new products, improved on-time deliveries and increased productivity.

Mr. Culp received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from Shippensburg University. He attended the Darden School of Executive Management at the University of Virginia and completed Six Sigma training at Qualtec.

I am very excited to have David join the Grass team. He brings a wealth of experience in a variety of areas that make him the right choice for Grass America. Please join me in welcoming David to our organization.

Rainer Hundsdörfer prend la relève de Wolfgang Wilmsen en tant que Président-Directeur Général de la Société Weinig AG Après avoir dirigé pendant 22 ans la Société Weinig AG, Wolfgang Wilmsen cèdera, à la fin de cette année, la présidence du comité directeur à Rainer Hundsdörfer.

Wolfgang Wilmsen, âgé de 62 ans, peut à juste titre être fier de sa carrière; sous sa responsabilité, le chiffre d'affaires de Weinig est passé de 62 millions d'euros en 1982 à 320 millions d'euros en 2002, et la société située à Tauberbischofsheim s'est haussée au rang d'un groupe d'entreprises proposant une offre complète pour l'usinage du bois massif. Aujourd'hui, le groupe Weinig est le plus grand constructeur mondial de machines et systèmes dans ce domaine. Avec la création de Weinig Concept, il y a trois ans, Wilmsen a mis sur pied une filiale destinée au planning industriel.

Dernièrement, il a encouragé l'expansion en Chine, recelant un marché très prometteur où Weinig s'est déjà implanté en trois endroits différents.

Son successeur, Rainer Hundsdörfer, âgé de 45 ans, était gérant responsable de la vente et du marketing des Ets Trumpf GmbH situé à Ditzingen, leader mondial de la fabrication des machines-outil et des lasers, et possède, de ce fait, une grande expérience dans la vente de biens d'investissement sophistiqués et haut de gamme à l'échelle mondiale. Le nouveau PDG de la société Weinig AG veut augmenter la croissance et les bénéfices du groupe, consolider et développer les parts de marché et conquérir de nouveaux marchés. « Weinig poursuivra la voie de la réussite », promet-il. « L'année 2004 se distinguera par une variété d'innovations réalisées dans de nombreux secteurs. »
